Desktop Publishing
Desktop publishing was born in 1985. It can be traced to the nearly simultaneous introduction of four products
1. The introduction of the Macintosh computer.
2. The availability of PageMaker software from Aldus
3. The release of the PostScript Language.
4. The Apple LaserWriter PostScript Printer.
Since then the Macintosh computer has improved significantly in price and performance. Adobe purchased Aldus and PageMaker is currently at release 6.5.
Adobe has developed PostScript to its current Level 3.
PostScript Laser printers and other PostScript output devices have evolved to where now actual computer plates are imaged by PostScript devices.
