Barrier coating professionals to convene on campus
Aug. 27, 2008
The department of Paper Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Imaging at Western Michigan University will hold its fifth Barrier Coating Symposium Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 7-8, at the Fetzer Center on the main campus of WMU.
The symposium offers a full program of speakers and panelists to provide papermakers, suppliers, and converters with information about new technologies and cutting-edge research being developed to address issues faced by the barrier coating markets.
It has been two years since the last symposium was held so this year's program is packed with new materials and methods for producing barrier coated products.
Symposium program highlights
- Newly developed highly modified potato starches
- New nano-composite barrier coating technology for the preservation of fresh fruits and vegetables
- Layering functional coatings with a multilayer curtain coater
- Stimuli-responsive coatings
- How barrier coatings affect the brand manager
- New FDA-compliant fluorochemistries
- EU markets, legislation and directives
- The contribution of engineered pigments to barrier coatings
- Barriers between plasticizers in recycled liner and board and its contents
- Anti-mold coatings for paper
- Yields of new barrier board grades by new coater at a German mill
- Manufacturer's roundtable.
Early registration benefits end Sept. 29. For a look at the complete symposium program and registration information visit wmucoating.com.
