Dr. Raja Aravamuthan joined the Department of Paper Engineering,
Chemical Engineering, and Imaging in 1986. Dr. Aravamuthan is the
advisor for the Paper Engineering and Imaging Programs. He has his
undergraduate degrees in Chemistry (1965, ITT, Madras, India) and
Chemical Engineering (1968, ITT, Madras, India); he has his M.S. in
Paper Science and Engineering (1981 S.U.N.Y., Syracuse, N.Y.) and a
Ph.D. in Fiber and Polymer Science (1985 UW, Seattle, WA). He's
currently teaching courses in all three of the department's areas,
Paper Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Imaging.
Dr. Aravanmuthan has done extensive research in the areas of
pulping and bleaching and non-wood fibers, process modeling and
simulation, deinking, and the use of enzymes in pulp and papermaking
processes. He has also conducted a series of training courses for ink industry professionals.
He has published more than 40 articles or book chapters in the Pulp and Paper related fields. |
