File Formats
There are a large number of file formats for storing color graphics, but the most popular in the graphic arts are EPS and TIFF.
EPS - Encapsulated PostScript uses the PostScript language to store pages of objects in a file.
They may include a low resolution preview.
Halftone parameters may also be included.
Supported by most application software including Photoshop, PageMaker, QuarkXPress, INDesign, Illustrator, FreeHand, etc.
TIFF - Tagged Image File Format is a versatile format which is extensible.
TIFF images can contain up to 60 tags, each defining different properties.
Can be RGB, CMYK, grayscale, etc.
Supported by most application software including Photoshop, PageMaker, QuarkXPress, INDesign, Illustrator, FreeHand, etc.
