Housing Information
The
residence halls close on Friday, April 27 at 7 p.m. Students living in
the halls will receive complete move-out information early in April.
Encourage your student to keep these details in mind:
- Bring winter and non-essential items home early. This will ease some of the move-out stress.
- Donate gently used items to our Trash to Treasures program to benefit those in need.
- Homemade or rented lofts must be taken down the weekend prior to finals week (April 20-22).
Is your student taking classes over the summer?
It's not too late to sign up for summer housing in Zimmerman Hall.
Students will receive a single room for the price of a double and
contracts are available for Summer l, Summer ll, or both sessions,
either with or without a meal plan. Click here for complete details.
And it's also not too late to sign up for housing for the 2012-13 academic year!

WMU Spotlight for High School Juniors
What is college really like? WMU Spotlight is a great way for high school juniors to get acquainted with WMU and find out what becoming a WMU student is all about.
There are two Saturdays to choose from, March 31 and April 14. Students and families will take a campus tour, visit a residence hall, eat in a dining hall, and much more!

Severe Weather Reminders
Does
your student know what to do and where to go during a tornado warning
or during other severe weather conditions? Encourage your student to
follow these safety rules:
- Register his or her cell phone number with WMU Alert to receive emergency messages (through your student's GoWMU account).
- Respond immediately to severe weather notifications and warning sirens. DON'T take a "wait and see what happens" attitude. Storms in recent weeks have come up quickly and caused great damage.
- When WMU is experiencing severe weather, follow appropriate safety procedures and DON'T leave the building to go outside to watch the storm!
-
Know where the shelter is. Campus buildings have designated locations
to go to during tornadoes and severe weather. Detailed directional signs
are posted throughout the buildings.
- When WMU holds tornado drills (or fire drills), PARTICIPATE willingly. Knowing what to do in an emergency saves lives! Click here for more information.
