The purpose of this course is to build the research skills necessary to engage in scholarly scientific inquiry. It will include data analysis, basic statistical procedures and dissemination of research, critique of research, funding and basic computer use for statistical analysis.
The competency addressed in this course is Research (11d). The graduate will design a research proposal, participate in implementation of research, and write up a research report in a format for presentation. 11e.The graduate will also demonstrate an understanding of the process of locating and securing grants and understand the fiscal resource grants can be for research and practice) with new knowledge discovered through lectures, class discussions and assignments. This knowledge is integrated with previous learning, exploring approaches and methods of the research process. In the course, students apply this understanding through development and analysis of an occupational therapy related database.
