Using Blackboard Vista Mail

Blackboard Vista's built-in course email allows you to easily communicate with your classmates and/or your instructor(s).

  1. In order to view course email delivered through Blackboard Vista, there are two options:
    • Click the envelope icon near the top-right corner of the welcome screen (before you enter your course). This option allows you to view mail from all your Blackboard Vista courses.
    • In your course, click the “Mail” on the left-hand menu. This option only shows you the mail for the course you are in.

  1. Once in a course’s mail page, click on any message in your inbox to view, and click Reply to send a response.

  2. Click “Create Message” to create a new message. The Create Message button opens a new window.
  3. To address the message, click on the “Browse for Recipients” button. This will open another window with a list of instructors, TAs, and students enrolled in the class.
  4. Click the corresponding check box next to the intended recipient's name as well as whether you want it addressed as (To), carbon-copied (CC) or blind carbon-copied (BCC).



  5. Once the message is addressed, type in your subject, message, and attach files if necessary (see the section on submitting an assignment for information on how to attach files) and click the Send button, or Preview if you want to see how it will look to them when they read it.
