WMU > OIT > Students > Get Connected Wireless In 2002, WMU became one of the first universities in the nation to be completely wireless. Because all residence hall rooms at WMU are wired for the much higher Ethernet speed, and because the density of residence hall room walls would negate connectivity, wireless is not available in campus residence hall rooms. Wireless connections are also less secure than wired connections. This is especially important to know when executing applications that contain student, employee, alumni, financial, personal, and/or other sensitive data. If you choose to use a wireless connection, you should be cautious about what sort of information you transmit. For example, if you visit Web sites that require a login name and password or credit card information, be aware that the information you enter may not be secure. Need More Help? If you need assistance, the Help Desk is located down the hall at the end of the UCC lab. They may be reached by telephone at (269) 387-HELP, option 1, or by e-mail to .
