Product Review

The Office of Information Technology reviews proposed product purchases to ensure the products will work within WMU's computing and network architecture. OIT will provide a recommended course of action and also make recommendations for enhancing the relationship with the vendor and any future support issues that may arise during the lifecycle of the product. The length of the review is related to the complexity of the product.

Once a product review request form has been submitted by a faculty or staff member with authorization to make and/or approve purchases, a representative of OIT will contact the requestor, within two business days, to schedule their attendance at a product review team meeting. A memorandum of understanding, outlining, if applicable, OIT's support commitment to this project (e.g. OIT programmer support, rack space, power, backup, administration, etc.) and what would be required of the requestor, will be produced and a copy forwarded to the requestor. If necessary, an additional meeting will be scheduled to review the memorandum before all parties sign-off.
