Extended University Programs Elearning Training

New Elearning System for Spring 2012

Western Michigan University has transitioned from the former Elearning system, Blackboard, to a new system, Desire2Learn. The new Elearning system will be available for all WMU courses in the Spring 2012 term. After the fall 2011 semester, no courses will be supported using the Blackboard system.


Fully Online, Hybrid, Regional Location Instructors

Training for all instructors is underway. If you are an instructor, TA, or GA using Elearning for your fully online, hybrid, or regional location course(s) you can schedule a training session with Extended University Programs by contacting Brian Carnell at or call 269-387-4200 to schedule an individual appointment.


Main Campus Instructors

Instructors, TAs, or GAs using Elearning to enhance your main campus course(s), you can visit the Faculty Technology Center website at www.wmich.edu/ftc/workshops to view and RSVP for training workshops. If you are unable to attend one of the dates and times, please contact , , or call 7-HELP to schedule an appointment.


IMPORTANT

Due to the robust toolsets and capabilities, it is strongly encouraged that all instructors attend a training session in order to become familiarized with the new system.


Migration

Blackboard courses can be migrated into the new system by visiting and completing the content migration form located at https://www.wmich.edu/ftc/bbmigrationform.php Instructors are strongly encouraged to complete this form prior to attending a training session in order to have materials available to refer to and enhance during the training process.
