Scholarships
WMU Bronson School of Nursing scholarships are listed below. The scholarship application will be available online April 1 of each year and is due June 1. Notification will go out Aug. 1, only to students who receive the scholarships. Awards will be made directly to recipients' accounts for each semester.

You may apply for all scholarships for which you are eligible. As part of the application process, we do ask that students—or the person responsible for their tuition—file a FAFSA with their federal tax return.
Nicole Jennings Endowed Scholarship in Nursing

Criteria:
- The scholarship shall be awarded to a full-time sophomore, junior or senior enrolled in the School of Nursing.
- The recipient shall have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA at the time of application.
- Recipients must be graduates of a Michigan or Wisconsin high school.
- Preference shall be given to students who demonstrate financial need due to socioeconomic disadvantages determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid.
- The award is not renewable.
Borgess Excellence in Nursing
Criteria:
- Financial need based
- Have and maintain 3.0 GPA
- Renewable for up to three years
- Recipient shall participate in the Borgess Nurse Extern Program when eligible
- Award amount dependent on available funds
- Minimum of one award annually
Bronson Health Foundation
Criteria:
- Full-time undergraduate student
- Resident of Kalamazoo County
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 with satisfactory academic progress
- Renewable for up to three years
- Award amount not less than $500 nor greater than $2000
- Minimum of one award annually
Bronson Methodist Hospital School of Nursing Alumni
Criteria:
- Preference given to an alumnus of Bronson Methodist Hospital School of Nursing
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Award amount dependent on available funds
- Minimum of one award annually
- Renewable for up to four years with satisfactory academic progress
Loren E. and Nellie M. Clark
Criteria:
- Minimum GPA of 2.25 with continued satisfactory academic progress
- Preference given to students of underrepresented gender or ethnicity
- Minimum of one award annually
- Renewable
- Award amount dependent on available funds
Emma Cecilia W. Barnes
Criteria:
- Minimum GPA of 3.2
- Financial need based
- Preference given to undergraduate non-traditional students who are residents of Michigan
Theodore and Hazel Perg
Criteria:
- Graduate of a high school in Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph or Van Buren counties
- Renewable with satisfactory academic progress
- Number of awards dependent on funds available
Lois I. Richmond
Criteria:
- Full-time undergraduate student
- Preference given to students with financial need
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Renewable with satisfactory academic progress
- Minimum of one award annually
- Amount of award dependent on funds available
June Sherman Spirit of Life Scholarship

Criteria:
- Preference given to non-traditional students, either from working single-parent family or single parents themselves
- Preference given to students indicating career interest in mental health, pediatrics, oncology or nursing administration
- Must be in 300 level courses or above
- Renewable for up to two years with minimum GPA maintained
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
June Sherman Uncommon Leader Scholarship

Criteria:
- Admitted to and enrolled in the management leader track of the M.S.N. program at Western Michigan University
- Pursuing career in nursing management or hospital leadership
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
Marie F. Gates
Criteria:
- Full time undergraduate or graduate student
- Undergraduate students shall have a minimum GPA of 3.5
- Graduate students shall have a minimum GPA of 3.7
- Preference shall be given to first generation students (ie., students whose parents did not graduate from college). Applicants will be asked to submit a FAFSA to the Office of Student Financial Aid for verification of information.

Sidney J. and Sharie L. Falan Scholarship
Criteria:
- Member of SNA
- Minimum GPA 3.5
- Must be in 4000 level courses or above
- Interest in nursing administration or informatics
- 250 word, typed essay describing a current issue in the use of technology for health care delivery and how it applies to their practice.
Lessie Mae Terell Unendowed Scholarship

Criteria:
- The scholarship shall be awarded to a full-time sophomore, junior or senior enrolled in the School of Nursing.
- The recipient shall have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA at the time of application.
- Preference shall be given to students who demonstrate financial need due to socioeconomic disadvantages determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid.
- A minimum of two scholarships shall be awarded annually (one to a traditional student and one to a non-traditional student) if sufficient spendable dollars are available.
- Current recipients may reapply for this scholarship provided they have demonstrated satisfactory academic progress.

Lakeview Foundation Nursing Scholarship
Criteria:
- Must have graduated from a high school or live in the service area of Bronson Lakeview Hospital in Eastern Van Buren County which would include Decatur, Gobles, Lawrence, Lawton, Mattawan and Paw Paw
- Financial need based
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Application available in the School of Nursing
