Acoustics and noise control
- Experimental: Instrumentation of systems for the purpose of acquisition and analysis of noise generated using state-of-the-art, certified equipment. Access to the WMU fully anechoic and reverberation chambers ensures accurate measurement in an environment isolated from other noise sources. If required, the sound intensity technique can be used to identify noise sources.
- Modeling: Use of existing and/or custom-made boundary element and finite element software to analyze systems.
- Experimental: Instrumentation of systems for the purpose of data acquisition and analysis of structural vibrations using state-of-the-art, certified equipment. If required, systems can be excited using a shaker and/or an instrumented impact hammer. Capable of performing modal analysis of complex structures.
- Modeling: Use of existing and/or custom-made finite element software to analyze systems.
- Research experience and a publishing record in the areas discussed above.
- Experience with existing methods of sound/vibration control and the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of these methods in particular applications.
- Consulting experience in the areas discussed above.
- Experience in organizing and presenting short courses/training for industry.
