George "Stewart" Johnson, a former Western Michigan University faculty member, died Aug. 6. He was 96.
Johnson, of Grand Rapids and Spring Lake, joined the WMU faculty in 1960 and retired in 1984 after 24 years of service to the University. He was a professor of mechanical engineering, including serving as the department chair.
