Application requirements

The following are anticipated application requirements for the DPT program at Western Michigan University. These are subject to change with further program development.

  • You must earn a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution by the start date of the DPT program.
  • You must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher to apply.
  • You must take the following prerequisite courses (each must be passed with a 2.0 or better, with an overall average of 3.0 or better)
    - Biology (including lab)
    - Human Anatomy
    - Human Physiology
    - Chemistry I & II (including labs)
    - Physics I & II (including labs)
    - Behavioral Sciences (at least two courses in psychology, sociology, cultural anthropology, etc.)
    - Statistics
  • You must take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
  • You must provide three letters of recommendation.
  • An interview will be included in the DPT application process. Applicants must demonstrate their knowledge of the profession during this interview and are strongly encouraged to seek out job shadowing, or other related experiences, within the PT field before applying.
