Paul Flicking is a part-time instructor at Western Michigan University's Gwen Frostic School of Art where he teaches in the ceramics program. Flickinger has also taught at Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, Lincoln Center Aesthetic Education and Prague Academy of Fine Art in the Czech Republic. He was the ceramics studio manager at Hope Enterprises Ceramics Training Program in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Flickinger has received several grants and awards, including the Fulbright Senior Specialist Award, the Grand Prize of the West, Michigan Regional, the Arts Council Of Greater Kalamazoo Emerging Artist Grant, the Dybvig Award from the University of Michigan and third prize and purchase award from Kalamazoo Institute of Arts Area Exhibition.
Flicking has exhibited widely in the state of, Michigan including; Lansing Art Gallery (Lansing, Mich.), Water Street Gallery (Saugatuk, Michigan), Krasl Art Center (St. Joseph, Michigan), Paint Creek Center for the Arts (Pontiac, Michigan), Southwestern Michigan College (Dowagiac, Michigan), and the Overbrooke Gallery (Muskegon, Michigan). Flickinger is also the founder and executive director of Clean Water for the World, which has delivered and installed safe drinking water systems in El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Haiti, Ghana, Kenya and Ecuador.
