Laura Cornish is the Production Manager and Lighting Designer for the Department of Dance at Western Michigan University. Laura received her Master of Fine Arts in theatrical design, with an emphasis in lighting from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University and her Bachelor of Arts in theatre, with an emphasis in design and technical production from Western Michigan University. She served as Company Manager for Mile Square Theatre, in Hoboken, NJ for 6 years and as resident lighting designer for 9 years. Laura also worked as an Associate Lighting Designer for RWS Associates in New York City. Her professional experiences have spanned design, as well as production and stage management, for theatre, dance, and opera for more than 150 productions. She has designed and reconstructed designs for Abraham.In.Motion, Antony Tudor Trust, Frank Chaves, DanceWorks Chicago, and Brian Enos. Laura’s work has been produced at locations such as the American Dance Festival, Princeton Opera Festival, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Barrow Street Theatre, Mississippi Arts Institute, Two River Theatre, Skyline Theatre Company, and Todd Mountain Theatre. She has also worked on production crews for Food Network, CBS Productions, George Street Playhouse, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and Williamstown Theatre Festival. Laura has been a part of the faculty for both Lehman College, City University of New York and William Patterson University, where she also functioned as the Production Manager and Scenic Designer for university theatre productions. She has previously been honored by the United States Institute for Theatre Technology’s Young Designers Forum.
