Before and after school care
Before and after school care is available for children Kindergarten through age 12. The Children’s Place Learning Center does not provide transportation to and from school. Kalamazoo Public Schools will provide transportation from some schools in the area. Please contact Kalamazoo Public Schools' transportation department for more information.
Campus Kids summer program
Campus Kids is a great summertime program for school-aged children featuring themed weeks, special topics, weekly field trips and more. This is a terrific opportunity to bring your children to WMU, and to keep them actively learning while having fun!
- Themed weeks run in the summer.
- Sign up by the week, or for the entire summer.
- For children who have completed kindergarten to age 12.
- Registration begins in spring.
|June 18-22||If I ran the zoo
Don't feed the monkeys! This is a fun-filled week. Come explore what animals live in the zoo. Pretend to be a zookeeper and care for the animals in our "zoo."
|June 25–29||How does your garden grow?
Do you have a green thumb? Now's the time to show it. We'll design and plant a garden, visit the greenhouse on campus, learn about how plants grow and more. Making our world green is our goal. We will also explore composting and recycling.
|July 2–6||Slippery, squishy, slimy
Let's explore all things slippery, slimy and squishy. We can make ooblick, slime and other experiments. This will be a week of amazing concoctions.
|July 9–13||Let's go Broncos
Hey Broncos! This is your week. You'll have a chance to play some of your favorite games and maybe invent a few of your own. We'll end the week with a Bronco spirit field day!
|July 16–20||Come fly with me
Get your passport ready. We're going on an adventure and who knows where we might end up. Sort through travel destinations and pick your favorite. Pack your bags and let's explore a new country, environment and culture.
|July 23–27||Full steam ahead
Jun us for a fun-filled week as we explore science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics! Daily hands-on exploration and experiments will encourage campers to take thoughtful risks as they work through the creative process. These are the innovators, educators, leaders and learners of the 21st century!
|July 30-Aug. 3||Picasso in training
Explore the world of art this week. We'll paint, create and display our masterpieces in the Children's Place art gallery. Our inspiration could come from anywhere!
|Aug. 6–10||The marvelous comic book
Be the star of your own comic book series. Design your own super powers and talk about the elements of a comic book. Spend the week working on creating a story and drawing pictures to go along with your plot.
|Aug. 13–17||Food frenzy
Celebrate an array of different culinary experiences with a week of delicious activities involving food! We'll make some kid-approved recipes, visit a commercial kitchen, and get a behind-the-scenes look at a local grocery store as we learn about how to make healthy food choices.
|Aug. 20–24||Backyard bash
Enjoy the great outdoors as we partake in summertime favorites spanning the decades! Play classic summer games like tug-of-war, kickball, foursquare, hopscotch and even learn a lawn game or two. Create a nature craft, go on a picnic, make bubbles and more during this celebration of summer!
Rates for the summer program are the same as preschool rates.
A $45/child ($75/family) registration fee is required for first-time children, or for children gone from the center over one year.
