On-Campus Housing

On-campus housing for the International Congress on Medieval Studies is provided in the co-ed residence halls of Western Michigan University, which is a tobacco-free campus, indoors and out. Registration for on-campus housing is a part of the Congress registration process. Please note that on-campus housing may sell out before the close of online registration.

On-Campus Housing Options

On-campus housing is available in the Western Heights complex and the Goldsworth Valley dorms.

  • Western Heights Features

Western Heights is located on central campus, about a 5-minute walk from Sangren Hall, the student center, and other Congress buildings. The campus shuttle also provides transportation between all Congress locations.

The Western Heights complexes are air conditioned and fully accessible to wheelchair users.

Rooms are grouped into “houses” with 18 bedrooms.

Each house has three bathrooms: two private single-occupant bathrooms, and one community bathroom with four toilet stalls and four shower stalls.

Each house has a shared kitchen and common area that can only be accessed by people staying in the same house.

  • Western Heights Rates

Rates for premium accommodation in the Western Heights complex are:

    • $99.00 per night for a single room.
    • $80.00 per person per night for a double (shared) room.
  • Goldsworth Valley Features

The Goldsworth Valley dorms are located on the periphery of campus, about a 15-minute walk from Sangren Hall, the student center, and other Congress buildings. The campus shuttle also provides transportation between all Congress locations.

The Valley dorms are not air conditioned. A limited number of rooms are accessible by wheelchair users.

Most bedrooms are paired in “suites” with a shared connecting bathroom. The shower and toilet are in stalls for privacy, but the door to the connecting bedroom cannot be locked from inside the bathroom.

Each floor in the Valley dorms has a shared kitchen that can be accessed by anyone in the dorm.

  • Goldsworth Valley Rates

Rates for basic accommodation in the Goldsworth Valley dorms are:

    • $55.00 per night for a single room.
    • $49.00 per person per night for a double (shared) room.

On-campus accommodations will be in single rooms unless you specifically request a shared room. If you wish to share a room, you must give the name of your intended roommate when registering, and they must give your name. Both you and your roommate must register before your room will be assigned. In order to streamline the room assignment process, we recommend that you register on the same day as your roommate. Anyone registering on-site during the Congress who books on-campus housing will be charged the rate for a single room.

Please note any special housing requests (e.g., ADA accommodations) when registering. We will make every effort to accommodate timely housing requests, but not every request can be fulfilled.

Refunds

Email the Medieval Institute to request a refund for registration fees, on-campus housing or meals in the dining hall. No refunds will be made after the close of pre-registration (two weeks before the Congress).
