Google Apps for Education will be available to all students, faculty and staff starting Jan. 6. Please be aware of the acceptable use policy for Google Apps for Education at WMU before storing University data. Google Apps provides Internet-based collaboration tools and storage, including the following:
Please note: Gmail will not be part of this roll-out as Webmail Plus will continue to be the University's official email system.
- Drive (unlimited storage and document editing)
- Hangouts (Web conferencing and collaboration)
- Sites (websites with browser-based authoring)
Individuals who use their first.last @ wmich.edu email address to log in to their personal Google account are required to rename that account to avoid a name conflict with their new WMU Google Apps account. If you have a Gmail (@gmail.com) account, or log in with a name other than your first.last @ wmich.edu, you are not required to take any action. If you think you need to take action, or would like to learn more about the name conflict resolution process, please visit the accounts conflict page.
Additional apps and tools will be made available starting in February, with YouTube (video streaming and storage) and Blogger (news feed websites).
