About APA

APA is a voluntary, nonbargaining group that supports the interests and concerns of employees in the Staff Compensation System who are both benefits-eligible and salaried. Dues-paying members, as a collective whole, provide the authority needed for the association to serve as the voice for these employees.

For decades, APA has successfully worked with WMU's administration to bring issues to the fore and develop solutions, and to obtain greater representation on important campus committees for APA-eligible staff. Past accomplishments include brokering new or expanded benefits related to year-round flextime, sick leave payoff and tuition discounts as well as enhancements to the Make a Difference Award program and Campus Employee Dispute Resolution Service.

APA aids the administration in providing an environment in which the contributions of all employees are valued and acknowledged. It also promotes the professional development, recognition and advancement of its members, and develops positive relationships within the association and with the University community through professional and social functions.
