John "Bokey" D. Satterfield Jr., formerly a manager in maintenance services at Western Michigan University, died Dec. 29. He was 73.
Satterfield joined the staff in 1971 and retired from what is now Facilities Management-maintenance services in 2010 after 38 years of service to the University. He began his WMU career as a painter and worked his way up to the maintenance services manager position.
A Battle Creek resident, Satterfield had been a member of Maranatha Original Church of God in the Cereal City for the past 40 years. He served the church as a trustee, board member, choir member and musician.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday Jan. 8, at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road in Battle Creek. The family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 9, in the Maranatha Original Church of God, 400 Waubascon Road in Battle Creek. Burial will take place in the Earlham Cemetery in Richmond, Indiana.
