Edward W. Randt Jr., formerly a journeyman plumber at Western Michigan University, died Dec. 24. He was 77.
Randt joined the staff in 1969 and retired from what is now Facilities Management-maintenance services in 1999 after 29 years of service to the University.
Survivors include Jodie Laraway, assistant director of scholarships and loans in WMU's Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships.
Randt served the Parchment community as a volunteer fireman for many years. In addition, he was a charter member of the Lutheran Church of the Savior in Kalamazoo and used to take care of any church maintenance that needed to be done.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, in the Lutheran Church of the Savior, 3616 East G Ave. in Kalamazoo. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. and be followed by a luncheon in the church's Fellowship Hall.
