The 2014 Bronco baseball home opener is Tuesday, March 25.

KALAMAZOO—Western Michigan University's baseball team released its 2014 schedule including four home Mid-American Conference series games, home matches against Michigan State, Northwestern and Valparaiso, as well as road contests at Louisville, Michigan and Notre Dame. The Broncos will play the Detroit Tigers Prospects team for the third year in a row at Joker Marchant Stadium as part of the annual Florida trip in March.

WMU kicks off the 2014 campaign with a three-game series against Conference USA opponent Memphis Feb. 14-16, before heading to Louisville for a three-game series, Feb. 21-23.

"The 2014 schedule stands to be very challenging with quality competition from start to finish," says head baseball coach Billy Gernon. "Both weekends will prove be a great chance for our team to play well on the road against formidable opponents."

The Broncos will then make a trip south to Florida to play in the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte Feb. 28 to March 8 against seven different teams, including reigning Summit League regular season conference champions, Nebraska-Omaha.

On March 5, WMU takes on the Detroit Tigers Prospects team for the third year in a row at Joker Marchant Stadium, home of the Detroit Tigers' spring training facilities.

"Our conference schedule will require us to demonstrate that our pre-conference schedule prepared us to be mentally tougher, play with consistency and excel in this very competitive conference," says Gernon.
