Confucius Institute offers classes, welcomes new teachers

The Confucius Institute is accepting registrations for Chinese culture classes that are open to the public and begin the week of Oct. 14. The low-cost courses are taught in English and offered to adults age 18 or older.

Three from WMU Creative Writing Program win literary awards

Two graduates and one student in WMU's Creative Writing Program have won important literary awards that will result in the publication of their works. The award winners are Laura Donnelly, Dustin M. Hoffman and Brandon Krieg.

The University will celebrate its 90th homecoming the week of Oct. 7. Scores of exciting events have been scheduled, including family weekend Oct. 11-13. Many events are free or low-cost and open to the public.

Authors support WMU writing award with fundraiser

Eleven poets and writers with ties to Michigan will come together Saturday, Oct. 5, to read from their work and celebrate the life and contributions of author, editor, publisher and WMU alumni Robert J. Bixby.

Acclaimed jazz violinist to perform with WMU alumnus

Violinist Regina Carter will appear in concert with her quartet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. The performance will be preceded by a 7 p.m. discussion hosted by Dr. Dan Jacobson.

Hal Holbrook comes to Miller Auditorium

Hal Holbrook brings his one-man show "Hal Holbrook in Mark Twain Tonight!" to Miller Auditorium for one performance at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5. Ticket prices range from $32.50 to $52.50.
