George O. Egland, associate professor emeritus of speech pathology at Western Michigan University, died Oct. 3. He was 104.

Egland, of Kalamazoo, joined the WMU faculty in 1954 and retired in 1972 as associate professor emeritus of speech pathology after 18 years of service to the University. He was a researcher, environmentalist and advocate for American Indians.
