KALAMAZOO—The Kalamazoo Film Society will present "The Impossible" Friday through Sunday, March 8-10, at Western Michigan University's Little Theatre.

Show times are 7 and 9:30 p.m. Friday; 4:30, 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday; and 2:30, 5 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5.

"The Impossible" is based on the harrowing, true life story of a couple and their three children on Christmas vacation in Thailand in 2004. Their idyllic holiday abruptly ends as a tsunami swallows the island; the film is a tribute to the family as they struggle for their lives against the destruction that envelopes them. Naomi Watts was nominated for an Academy Award for her role as the mother determined to keep her family together and alive.

Also starring Ewan McGregor and Tom Holland, and directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, the film is rated PG-13 for intense, realistic scenes of disaster and injury, and brief nudity. It has a run time of 107 minutes.
