WIDR celebrates 60th anniversary with dance party

KALAMAZOO—Western Michigan University's independent student radio station, WIDR 89.1 FM, celebrates its 60th anniversary with two special events during Homecoming Week 2012.

Ancient Air

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, former WIDR staff members from as far back as the 1960s will return to their radio roots as guest DJs. Listen live on 89.1 FM or on the Web at widr.org.

Dance Party Extravaganza

WIDR's 60th Birthday Dance Party Extravaganza will begin at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Bell's Eccentric Cafe, 355 E. Kalamazoo Ave., Kalamazoo. The event will feature past and present WIDR DJs spinning tunes from the last 60 years as well as many distinguished WIDR and WMU alumni. There is no cover charge for this event, but donations will be taken to support WMU's endowed Jules Rossman Scholarship for WIDR student staff members. Guests must be 21 or older to enter.
