Most recent position held: Systems Integrity Analyst, National City, Kalamazoo, Mich. (current)
Memories: It was a special time and a special place with many very special people. How can I pick from the "New Structures in Sound" series, performing under Herb Butler, grad-assisting for Peter Pan and Cosi, and hours upon hours with our "Brass Offering"?
Additional Comments: While my partner (26 years) and I were moving into our current home, I uncovered a sizeable box of programs from Kanley Chapel convocations and Oakland Recital Hall performances I attended, accompanied, or otherwise participated in. How wonderful it was, as I leafed through each of them, to revisit the moments, the music, and especially the people! We’re still in Kalamazoo, but hope to retire eventually to either the California desert or Hawaii.

Honors, Publications, Accomplishments, News Items: MM - Viola Performance, University of Akron, Ohio; 2003 Member of Pi Kappa Lambda Memories: Dalton Center was my home away from home when I was studying there. You can never appreciate the facilities until you leave them and go elsewhere. Dalton Center has one of the best music facilities around and WMU should be proud of that. Keep the halls buzzing with wonderful music for it will be remembered.

Most recent position held: Entertainer, Howl at the Moon, Tamarac, Fla. (current)
Honors, Publications, Accomplishments, News Items: I have been working as a musician for 18 years in a number of different capacities. I have lived a bit of a
nomadic life, finally settling in Ft. Lauderdale, where I still spend my nights entertaining for a living. I also spend time during the day caring for my wonderful children and writing.
Memories: My favorite memories of WMU are everything from singing in the University Chorale to playing the saxophone in the Jazz Band, Symphonic Band, and even
once in the Symphony directed by Mr. Frey. On the other end of the spectrum, I enjoyed hosting some great parties for our students in the house by Bronson Park and
spending hours in the practice rooms writing and singing songs.
Additional Comments: Although I never received a degree from Western or any other college, I consider the years spent studying and interacting with musical people of
all types to be an important step in my musical and personal growth. I now enjoy being able to play piano, bass guitar, drums, and saxophone on my job, and I attribute it
to the things I learned as a young man at Western.

Most recent position held: Music Store Owner, Dublin, Calif. (current)
Honors, Publications, Accomplishments, News Items: Received Master of Music degree
in choral conducting from Oakland University, 1990; taught choral music in the Chippewa Valley
School District, Utica, Mich. 1985-89; moved to San Francisco, Calif. in 1990. Directed and performed
in various church choirs and vocal ensembles. Eventually started my own print music store, Camerata
Music, in 1995; continue to perform in a variety of choral groups and manage to direct choirs now
and then. Most of my time is spent running Camerata Music which provides a unique and successful
print service for vocal and instrumental musicians throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Memories: Can't choose just one. Have many fond memories of the excellent
professors I studied with: Phyllis Rappeport, Mel Ivey, Jack Frey, Joan Boucher, David Sheldon,
Ramon Zupko, and Curtis Curtis-Smith in addition to the great administrators: Don Bullock and
Carl Doubleday. Fondly remember East Campus music classes, Grand Chorus, Bilbo's Pizza,
Electronics 101, Dionysus Greek Restaurant, Bach to Bach, Boogie Records, swans in the pond
near the Valley residence halls, the "new" Dalton Center, Music Convocation, Treva Reed Music,
The Ground Round, and the Campus Theatre.
Additional Comments: I will never regret my decision to study music at WMU.
It was about as close to a perfect college experience as one could hope for. Sometimes I wish
I could travel back to 1983 and just relive a bit of my time there (perhaps not too close to
juries or finals!). For any of the faculty and staff from my era that may still be there to
read this, "Thank you." I use the knowledge and skills I acquired from my studies there every
day of my life.

I continue to work with my music and compose gospel music.
Memories: All the famous performers that I met while practicing on the Schlicker organ at Miller Auditorium - Hall & Oates, Neil Sedaka, Harry Chapin, Marcel Marceau (although he didn't say much!). My absolute favorite memory was being able to beg my way through the officers (KGB?) guarding the doors to the backstage of Miller Auditorium to meet the conductor of the Leningrad Symphony Orchestra. His wife heard me begging the guards to let me meet him, took me by the hand and led me back to his dressing room. What a joy and honor to meet such a talented individual!
