The Local Arrangements committee, chaired by James Barnes of the University of Kansas, is making preparations for our April meeting in Lawrence. The conference will be highlighted by a large program Friday evening around the theme of decadence and the circus, featuring the KU Wind Ensemble performing John Corigliano's new symphony: Circus Maximus, Florent Schmidt's Dionysiaques, Persichetti's Masquarade, and William Schuman's Circus Overture.
Parking:
Visitor parking tags will be included in the registration packet. Those driving straight to the conference site should initially park in the surface lot to the west of Murphy Hall as described above. Registrants will need to return immediately to their vehicles and place their permits on their mirrors. Short-term parking not covered by the visitor tags is also available ($1 per hour) in the covered parking garage to the south of the surface parking lot.
Saturday Evening Banquet:
The banquet will be held Saturday evening at 6:45 at Paisano's Ristorante (2112 West 25th Street, just West of 25th and Iowa). Cost of the dinner is $25 ($20 for students), including tax and gratuity; there will be a cash bar. The dinner will be served buffet style, with both meat and vegetarian dishes available, plus salad, bread, iced tea, soft drinks, coffee, and dessert. Those with special dietary needs who would like to attend the banquet should contact Scott Murphy. Advanced reservation is required.
