Question 4: What symphony did Beethoven start working on immediately after he published Symphony No. 3? (look carefully at the dates in Music Guide 31 in the Music 1700 Resource Guide)

Question 5: Why does Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 have a special relationship with his Symphony No. 6?

To answer the above questions:

- Keep in mind that the "normal" 4-movement design of a Classic symphony is:

1. Fast (I--Home key): Sonata form [debate]

2. Slow (IV): a serene movement in a simple design such as ABA, small rondo, or Theme and Variations
3. Minuet (I; moderate speed): Minuet & Trio form
4. Very Fast (I): Rondo form

- Study Music Guide 31 on page 9 of the Music 1700 Resource Guide.
- Read the section below in the notes on "Beethoven's Three Style Phases"
- Listen to the FIRST TWO MINUTES of each of the YouTube clips listed above for Symphonies No. 1 and No. 3
