Through several grants in the Division of Multicultural Affairs, WMU students engage in service learning opportunities that address issues of college access for all youth and families in the Southwest Michigan area. A partnership has been established between the university community and the local community in order to provide families in the community with information to ensure an understanding of the process and preparation for a post-secondary education. An additional goal is to ensure that participants are aware of the application process for the Kalamazoo Promise Scholarship and subsequently have access to a post-secondary education upon graduation.
This program is funded by the Michigan Campus Compact College Positive Communities Grant, the Division of Multicultural Affairs, and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
