METL Background
The Multipurpose Enabling Technology Lab (METL) formally opened the week of October 7, 1996. Prior to the opening of METL, adaptive technology was available in a few labs scattered across campus since 1988.
METL is managed by the Office of Information Technology in collaboration with Blind Rehabilitation, Occupational Therapy, Special Education, and Speech Pathology and Audiology. The specially trained student staff come from the collaborative areas. METL is used as both an open access lab for students, faculty and staff members who need adaptive computing hardware and as a teaching resource.
