Classroom Equipment & Technology

Classroom Technology Support provides technical services to the University community. This area deals with classroom equipment requests, technical assistance for classes, and provides faculty with assistance and training. Classroom Technology also does equipment repair, and assists in classroom design and installation of technology. For more information, call Brad Morgan at (269) 387-5363.

Classroom Technology Support has audio-visual offices in Dunbar Hall and Sangren Hall during the school year. They are staffed by student help from 7:45 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays. All equipment is on a first-come-first-served reservation system, with priority given to regularly scheduled WMU credit courses. All reservations for portable equipment and requests for information should be made through our Dunbar Office at (269) 387-5060.

Equipment

Rental & Usage Policy

Classroom Technology Services loans out equipment under the following policy:

Faculty and students may use audiovisual equipment free of charge if the usage applies to a regularly-scheduled WMU credit course. Students must present a written note from the professor before obtaining the equipment.

Over and above classroom use, equipment shall be loaned out on a limited basis to faculty, staff and student organizations for such things as conferences, research work, and seminars, with a daily fee being charged.

All equipment is on a first-come-first-served reservation system, with priority given to regularly-scheduled WMU credit courses. All reservations for portable equipment should be made through our Dunbar office at 387-5060. For use in classrooms, the following shall apply:

Audio-visual Equipment Rental Rates

All prices represent standard daily rates. 40% WMU Discount applies if billed to a university fund and cost center. Rental restrictions may apply to some pieces of equipment. Rental rates are subject to change.

Repair

Equipment owned by Classroom Technology is repaired at no charge. Equipment that is damaged beyond normal wear and tear will be billed to the department or person causing the damage. Departmentally-owned equipment is charged for repair at the rate of $20/hr. plus parts. It is necessary in some cases to return the equipment to the factory for repair. The department is then responsible for the cost of the repair.
