of Pi Mu Epsilon

Membership Eligibility


Pi Mu Epsilon is a nationwide honorary mathematics society. To be eligible for membership in
the Michigan Epsilon Chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon at Western Michigan University you must satisfy one of the following:

1. You have completed 56 credit hours at WMU and you have an overall GPA of 3.0 and a GPA of 3.0 in all mathematics/statistics courses, including MATH 1220, 1230 and two other advanced mathematics courses.
2. You are in your second year at WMU intending to major in mathematics or statistics and you have an overall GPA of 3.2 and a GPA of 4.0 in all mathematics/statistics courses including MATH 1220, 1230 and 2300.
3. You have transfered 26 or more credit hours from other colleges, have completed 30 credit hours at WMU with an overall GPA of 3.0 and a GPA of 3.0 in all mathematics/statistics courses taken at WMU, including two courses requiring MATH 1230 and MATH 2300 as prerequisite.
4. You are a graduate student admitted to a graduate program in the Department of Mathematics at WMU and have a GPA of 3.0 in all mathematics/statistics courses taken in the year prior to your election.

Upon acceptance into the Michigan Epsilon Chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon there will be a one time membership fee of $46 which includes the national Pi Mu Epsilon Society dues for lifetime membership, a Pi Mu Epsilon membership certificate and pin, and a one year subscription to the Pi Mu Epsilon Journal.
