Department of Mathematics
Pi Mu Epsilon is a national honorary mathematics society. The goals of our chapter at WMU are to:
- Promote scholarship in mathematics
- Help all undergraduates reach their full mathematical potential
- Recognize the accomplishments of our outstanding students
A special initiation ceremony is held every semester to induct new members. PME also sponsors mathematics lectures, and organizes social events like games nights and movie nights.

ScMaTA
The Science and Mathematics Teacher Association at WMU is organized for the following purposes:
- To build a community of those interested in mathematics and the sciences and the teaching of these content areas, involving faculty and students, at both undergraduate and graduate levels, local classroom teachers, and WMU alumni
- To foster and encourage communication and collaboration among and between these groups and the public to enrich the understanding of mathematics, the sciences, and mathematics and science education
- To promote life-long learning
