Calendar of Events for Fall 1999



1. Friday, September 17, 1999 4:00 p.m. in the Alavi Commons Room, Pi Mu Epsilon Pizza Party.
2. Friday, October 8, 1999, 4:00 p.m. in the Alavi Commons Room, Sixth Floor of Everett Tower, "Mathematical Mindsets and Toolsets", Ed Moylan, Ford Motor Company. All interested students are welcome.
3. Friday, October 15, 1999, 4:00 p.m. in 1104 Rood Hall, Thomas Hales, University of Michigan, will present a talk entitled "Cannonballs and Honneycombs".
4. Tuesday, October 19 through Thursday, October 21, 1999, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. the Annual Pi Mu Epsilon Book Sale will be held in 3368 Rood Hall.
5. Friday, November 5, 1999, 4:00 p.m., in 1104 Rood Hall, Frank Williams, Williams College will present a talk entitled "The Soap Bubble Geometry Contest: Questions, Answers, Demonstrations, and Prizes".
6. Friday, November 5, 1999, Pi Mu Epsilon Initiation Banquet, Presidents' Dining Room, talk by Frank Morgan, Williams College, on "Students and Mathematics in the News and on TV".
7. Friday, November 19,1999, 4:00 p.m., in 1104 Rood Hall, Western Michigan University students Mark Crawford and Oscar Neal will present a talk entitled "Using the Right Directions to Find Trees, Stars, and Other Interesting Objects".
6. Thursday, December 2, 1999, Movie and Popcorn. Rood Hall 1104, at 7:00p.m. Jointly sponsored with the Physics Club.
