Michael is a sixth year senior majoring in Physical Education/Coaching from Barryton, Michigan. He graduated from Chippewa Hills High School in 2008 where he was involved in wrestling, soccer, orchestra, and band. He also served as drum major his junior and senior years. This is his sixth year in the BMB and first as Drum Major. Michael also served as Senior Field Assistant in 2012 the trombone section leader for the 2010 and 2011 seasons. Since joining Bronco Band he has been involved in many organizations and activities. Some of these include Pep Band (basketball and hockey), University Concert Band, the Tuba/Euphonium studio, and Jazz Lab Band. Michael also holds a membership in Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia where he has served as the Membership Development Committee Chairman (2009/2010), Warden (2010/2011), and Fraternal Education Officer (2011/2012). During the summer, he teaches band camps throughout the state and also works at Smith-Walbridge Clinics drum major camp as a member of the instructional staff. He also enjoys coaching and was an assistant coach for the wrestling team at Portage Northern High School for the 2011/2012 season. Michael says the most important thing to him is his friends and the relationships he has developed during his attendance at WMU. He takes pride in being part of the nationally renowned Bronco Marching Band and cannot wait to serve the band this season. Go Broncos!
