KVCC & Guest Student Enrollment

The BMB welcomes students from KVCC and other regional colleges to enroll and participate in the band.  Enrollment at WMU is required. Students should follow the procedure for enrollment below. Note there is a separate procedure for KVCC students that has slightly more steps, but results in making sure students are charged the KVCC tuition rate. All students must apply for “guest admission.”

KVCC Students:

  1. Apply for “guest admission” at WMU. This can be done by going to the WMU Registrar’s website at www.wmich.edu/registrar. Click on “forms” under the “Tools” header on the left side of the page.  Then click on “MI Uniform Undergraduate Guest Application” under the section “For undergraduate students.”   This links to the Guest Application, a pdf that should be completed by following the directions provided on the form. The Guest Application needs to be turned in to the Records and Registration Office at KVCC.  KVCC will then complete Part II of the form and forward the application to WMU.
  2. Please note that you must be a student in good standing at KVCC to receive guest admission. Students who are new to KVCC will be limited to enrollment only in the BMB at WMU.
  3. After your application has been submitted and approved you will receive notification from WMU Admissions of your acceptance.
  4. You will receive your BroncoNetID and a WIN number which all WMU students receive.
  5. After you receive notice of your acceptance, e-mail the WMU Registrar, Carrie Cumming, and inform her of your intent to enroll in the BMB. Her email address is carrie.cumming@wmich.edu. Your email should indicate the following:
  • Your full name
  • WIN number
  • That you are applying to WMU as a “Guest Student” from KVCC
  • You intend to enroll in the Bronco Marching Band (MUS-1090) which is a 1 credit class
  • To contact you if there is any other information they need you to provide

Upon receiving your e-mail, the Registrar’s Office will enroll you in MUS-1090.

Other Information:

  • Your tuition bill will be at the KVCC course rate, *not* the WMU cost. Your bill will come to you from WMU.
  • Financial aid can be applied toward WMU classes but you must contact the financial aid office at KVCC to get it done.
  • Stay in touch with the BMB Website for report dates and other information.

Please contact the WMU Registrar’s Office (Carrie Cumming, carrie.cumming@wmich.edu ) or Dr. Montgomery if you have any questions about this process. Students should get this done early in the summer (June or July).
Non-KVCC Students:
Guest students from other institutions will also need to submit a guest application in order to be admitted. They will however be charged at the WMU rate. The tuition for KVCC students is adjusted as the result of an agreement between the two institutions. Non-KVCC students do not need to contact the WMU registrar, they can just register for the course as normal. They can of course contact the Registrar’s Office if they need assistance. The only reason KVCC students to notify the WMU registrar is to make sure their tuition is adjusted. Here is the procedure:

The Guest Application needs to be turned in to the Records and Registration Office at your college. They will then complete Part II of the form and forward the application to WMU.
  2. After your application has been submitted and approved you will receive notification from WMU Admissions of your acceptance.
  3. You will receive your BroncoNetID and a WIN number which all WMU students receive.
  4. Enroll in the Bronco Marching Band, MUS-1090.

Other Information:

  • Your tuition bill will be at the WMU course rate, not a community college’s cost. Your bill will come to you from WMU.
  • Financial aid can be applied toward WMU classes but you must contact the financial aid office at your community college to get it done.
  • Stay in touch with the BMB Website for report dates and other information.

Please contact the WMU Registrar’s Office (Carrie Cumming, carrie.cumming@wmich.edu ) or Dr. Montgomery if
you have any questions about this process. Students should get this done early in the summer (June or July).
