Derrick Geething is a fifth year senior majoring in Music at Western Michigan University. He plans on graduating in 2015-2016 and plans to also complete a minor in French.
Derrick has been involved with music for 11 years and plans to teach music throughout the world. While he is a Euphonium player in the school of music at WMU, he has played Trumpet for several years in the Bronco Marching Band and has served as one of the trumpet section leaders for two years and received an award for “Section Leader of the Year”. This will be his first year as drum major and his fifth year in the band. Derrick enjoys playing all types of music including: lead trumpet jazz, concert band, marching band, playing and singing in musical productions, and singing in alternative rock bands. He was awarded the Arion Award after graduating high school for his hard work and persistence in music performance. Derrick plans on going to graduate school for a masters in a music program, and hopes to study abroad in Europe. A passion of Derricks is teaching music, which will be his next step after graduate school. Derrick has been involved in a variety of music organization most notably Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Outside of music, Derrick enjoys acting and voice acting as well as hanging out with friends and enjoying life as it passes by.
