The sound level meter is one of the most widely used pieces of equipment in this lab. This instrument has many different functions by which to measure different aspects of noise. It has the capabilities to measure sound in A, C, and flat weighting, 1/1, 1/3, and 1/12 octave band resolutions, and at slow, fast, and impulse averaging speeds. It also has the ability to capture and record data files, which can then be transferred to a CPU by use of the system software. The SLM is used in many of the labs taught in the Engineering Noise Control class, and has been used in many different research projects due to its many features. Larson Davis 824 manual.
