Visual Resources Library Services

The Visual Resources Library provides Caramates for individual viewing, slide reviewing, make-up exams, and lecture preparation.

Images on CD-ROMs: As of May 1, 2003, the Visual Resources Library will create image intensive CD-ROMs on request for faculty. Fees for this service of $3.50 per image with a limit of 60 images per CD-ROM. Please allow 4 weeks for CD-ROMs to be completed.

Individual Viewing: The Visual Resources Library provides Caramates for individual viewing, slide reviewing, make-up exams, and lecture preparation. Please reserve a Caramate in advance for make-up exams by calling 269-387-4111. Faculty must be present to administer exam.

Reference Assistance: The staff of the Visual Resources Library is available to answer art and image reference questions. Questions can be answered through e-mail at lib-vrlref@wmich.edu.

Instruction in the use of library materials and electronic resources is available for classes and individuals. Contact the librarian for more information and to schedule an instruction session. See Staff Directory

Slides and Slide Pulling

Slides: The Visual Resources Library will make slides on request for faculty, staff, and students of WMU. The cost per slide is $3.50. Slides will be given directly to the patron and will not become part of the Visual Resources Collection. Please allow 4 weeks for slides to be completed. This policy has been in effect since May 2003.

Slide Pulling: For patrons who need assistance due to scheduling or disability. A slide pulling service is available to all faculty and graduate assistants on campus and at regional centers.

Requests: The maximum number of slides per request is 60. Requests can be made in person, through campus mail, fax, telephone, or e-mail at least 24 hours in advance. For all requests except those made by e-mail, please print and use our PDF request forms:

E-mail Requests: E-mail requests should be sent to lib-vrlref@wmich.edu. Request are placed on the reserve shelf and checked out by the patron following the current circulation procedure. The WMU course number will be required for all slide pulling requests.
