CAMIO contains over 23,000 images of works of art representing a broad range
of fine and decorative arts from well-known collections including the Metropolitan
Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Lost Angeles County Museum of
Art, the Asia Society, and the Victorian and Albert Museum.
All works are represented
by a high-resolution image and description. Some images also have additional
views plus sound, video, and curatorial notes. Images are available for use classroom
use, research, educational web sites, and other forms of educational projects.
This tool is designed for use in studio art, art history, anthropology, religion,
and other courses in the humanities. CAMIO replaces the AMICO Library.
CAMIO Use Statement
Access to use of the CAMIO Library is exclusively for education, research,

More about CAMIO and the Classroom
Digital images are available through CAMIO in three different sizes for browsing,
study, and presentation. University Libraries' license agreement with the CAMIO
Library allows WMU faculty, staff, and students with current WMU identification
to use the CAMIO Library. Use of the database is prohibited to alumni, family
members, and other persons not affiliated with Western Michigan University. Please
read the following information regarding CAMIO utilization:
- Authorized users are allowed to use images from the CAMIO database for educational
purposes such as teaching, private study, research, student projects and papers
- Proper citation to works must appear when images are used in papers
- The use of the CAMIO images in Web sites, publication, and any other redistribution
is strictly prohibited. Violation of this restriction will be met with appropriate
action.
- Assistance to faculty who would like to use CAMIO in class assignments is
available. Faculty are welcome to make reservations for class instruction with
a minimum of 48 hours notice.
