These indexes to journal articles are listed in approximate priority order. Sometimes, in addition to journal articles, these sources index other forms of publications as well, such as essays in books or dissertations. The titles of these indexes suggest the subjects they cover. Students may need to use more than one of these indexes to search for pertinent articles. In some cases the indexes not only cite articles we own in print but also in electronic full-text. In other cases, however, we won't own the journal at all and you will need to request a copy of the article you want through Interlibrary Loan.

If you want to find out which of our indexes can be limited to search by entries in languages other than English,  please go to the library's home page, then under "Find It" choose "By Type or Format" and then choose "Non-English Resources. Or simply click here:

Librarian's Comment: Although restricted to English and American literature this resource may be very useful to comparative literature faculty and students in foreign languages.
Includes separately searchable full-text databases of some well-known as well as some not so well-known literary works in English and American poetry, drama, prose fiction, and criticism from the year 600 to modern times. The 22 databases can also be searched at one time. Besides the actual literary texts there are quick links to selected literary criticism through the Annual Bibliography of English Language and Literature. This bibliography, in turn, includes full-text articles from some of the journals. It is possible, then, not only to have a keyword searchable edition of a literary work available from LION but some interpretations of that work as well. The Bible in 21 versions, 11 editions of the complete works of Shakespeare, all of W.B. Yeats's works, 52,000 poems by 20th century American poets, and 250 complete 19th century English novels are just some of the texts included.

Poem Finder (LitFinder) restricted More than 125,000 full-text poems and over 850,000 poems indexed. Search by any word(s) in a poem title, first line, last line, book title, author, or subject. International in scope (in English translation) and covers antiquity to the present.
