Msgr. Joseph Turk Papers
Msgr. Joseph Turk (1895-1951) was born in Verdun, France. Msgr. Turk studied at Universities in Innsbruck, Vienna, Munich, and at the Yugoslav Seminary in Rome. He published two books: the Ways and Goals of the Scholastics in Slovenian and Cistercian Statuta Antiquissima in Latin. Msgr. Turk spent a brief time as the Dean of Faculty at the University of Ljubliana and taught two years at St. Mary's College in California.
Included in this collection are newspaper clippings from California papers concerning Tito and the governmental upheaval in Yugoslavia, personal documents and correspondence, and canceled postage stamps from Spain, Italy, Switzerland, and Germany from the 1940's and early 1950's. Brother L. Dennis at Saint Mary's College in California donated the collection to Western Michigan University for research purposes concerning the Statuta.
