M. Basil Pennington OCSO Archive

M. Basil OSCO Archive

Fr. M. Basil Pennington, deceased June 3, 2005, was a Cistercian monk who entered the religious life at St. Joseph's Abbey in Spencer, MA. He wrote many books on the subject of centering prayer, a form of meditation that takes you deep within yourself and is used to create a closer connection to God. Fr. Basil had spent some time as abbot in a monastery in China and was briefly abbot of Our Lady of the Holy Spirit in Conyers, Georgia.

The collection includes a complete run of Fr. Basil's works, professional and personal correspondence, and other documents and effects relating to his personal work. The collection contains programs from seminars he led, newspaper articles, photographs, slides, videotapes, letters, and books.
