The Delano Collection: Authors and Home Sites

Auden Collection

This collection, donated by Dr. Phyllis J. Delano, features books about authors and their homes from around the world. Dr. Delano ran the Human Resources Department at Western Michigan University before training as a psychologist and working in the corporate world for some fifty years. During her retirement, Dr. Delano traveled to different author's homes around the world and gathered books about the places in which they lived and worked.

An extensive portion of the collection features American and English authors. A few of the authors represented in this collection include: Laura Ingles Wilder, Ernest Hemingway, Hans Christian Anderson, James Joyce, and Mark Twain.

Some of the titles include: Hemingway in Michigan, Faulkner's Mississippi, The Writer's America, and Literary Washington . Also in this collection are books entitled Round the World With Famous Authors, Paris: A Literary Companion, and Literary By-Paths in Old England as well as Guide to Literary London, all of which have been heavily annotated by their former owner.
