There are a number of specialized databases covering various aspects of aviation and aeronautics in addition to the bibliographic databases listed above. Many of these provide information involving various aspects of accidents, aviation safety, or other specialized information.

Accident Database & Synopses Brief synopses of the aviation accidents occurring between 1962 and the present indicating if the findings are preliminary or final. Users can search for accidents by date, location, aircraft category, aircraft make, registry number, if there were fatalities, and other factors. Browsing by dates is available. NTSB summaries.

Aviation Safety Information Analysis and Sharing (ASIAS) SystemThis is a collecion of databases from the FAA. Thers is an a-z list and a subject guide to the data.


Landings DatabasesSearch databases covering:U.S. and U.K. and World aircraft registration pilot records, accident reports, weather information, Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) archive, the 1994 Airmen's Information Manual, FAA reports, medical examiners, A&P mechanics, airport information aircraft performance and more.

Military Aircraft Database
Lists the designations and types of aircraft used by the military of various nations. It tries to give a bit of information about each military aircraft: Its name, its merits, how many were built, and other, similar, questions. The information can be approached by country or model of aircraft. Includes historic as well as contemporary aircraft.

NASA Center for Aerospace Information Technical Report Server"The CASI Technical Report Server contains bibliographic citations for Scientific and Technical Aerospace Reports (STAR file series), journal articles, and conference proceedings (Open Literature file series), and citations from the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) collection, NASA's predecessor organization. The citations represent a selected portion of the publicly available information available through the NASA RECON system."

National Transportation LibraryPapers and reports arranged into the following categories: Air Traffic Control, Aviation Economics and Finance, Aviation Planning and Policy, Aviation Laws and Regulations, Airports and Facilities, Aviation Energy and Environment, Aviation Safety/Airworthiness, and Newsletters.

SAE in Aerospace Engineering
"SAE Aerospace is involved in all sectors of air mobility, including airplanes, helicopters, spacecraft, and ground support." A database of SAE's technical reports is available for searching. Reports published in 1998 and after are available for purchase online. WMU Libraries Science Reference Department has microfiche copies of SAE publications.
