AIAA Electronic Library open access The AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics) Electronic Library enables you to do keyword searches in selected AIAA journals, meeting papers, books, and standards. Full text is not available. However, Waldo Library will order any materials that you need through InterLibrary Loan.

Applied Science and Technology Abstracts restricted Basic undergraduate engineering database. It covers only English-language journals, no conferences. WMU libraries own about 60% of the titles indexed. Good first choice for engineering/technology. Coverage: 1983-present. Tutorial

Article @ INISTArticles, books, conferences, and dissertations in the catalog at the Institut de l'Information Scientifique et Technique. Most seem to be in English, but includes material from around the world.

Ei Compendex restricted The most comprehensive index for scholarly research in engineering and applied science. Includes conference papers and foreign language material. Coverage 1969-present, updated weekly.

Energy Citations DatabaseCreated by the Office of Scientific and Technical Information in the U.S. Government, this database provides searchable access to more than two million citations to articles, technical reports and conference papers from 1948 to the present. Many documents from 1994 onward are available in electronic format (HTML or PDF).

The Sage Full Text Materials Science Journals collection online provides you with full text access to the following list of journals.




MEMS World OnlineA new online index (in Beta) to literature in the field of microelectromechanical systems. It claims to cover all primary conferences, journals and patents in the field since 1966. The material in here is not in full text, although links to publishers pages are provided. Users can search by keyword in various categories, including organizations, topics, and researcher names. Documents are displayed in order by relevance. Entries contain document title, author, source or publication title, date, abstract, and a full citation. More info

Metadex restricted A comprehensive index to information on metals and alloys: their properties, manufacturing, applications, and development. Includes over 2,000 journals, plus patents, dissertations, government reports, conference proceedings, books and web sites. This database contains over1 million records and is the online equivalent of Metals Abstracts, Metals Abstracts Index, and Alloys Index. Coverage from 1966 to present. Updated monthly.

SAE Publications and Standards restricted Search this online index for detailed summaries and citations to more than 85,000 documents, including Technical Papers and Standards, published by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) since 1906. Covers research in all areas of mobility engineering including ground vehicle, aerospace, off-highway, and manufacturing technology. Includes SAE Ground Vehicle Standards (J-Reports); Aerospace Standards; and Aerospace Material Specifications (AMS).

Librarian's Comment: Technical papers from 1965-2004 are available in microfiche at Science Reference, Waldo Library. SAE standards are available in the SAE Handbook, Science Reference, TL151 .S62. Request full text of other materials through interlibrary loan.

Scopus restricted Scopus is a very large abstract and indexing database primarily covering scholarly literature in science and social science. Use this to get extensive inter-disciplinary access to journal articles and also to find out which articles are being cited by other scholars. Scopus includes 14,000 peer-reviewed titles from more than 4,000 international publishers. Coverage from 1995. Tutorial

Web of Science restricted Web of Science from the ISI Web of Knowledge contains three major databases covering all areas of knowledge: Science Citation Index Expanded (1900-present), Social Sciences Citation Index (1956-present), and Arts & Humanities Citation Index (1975-present). The literature can be searched by subject, author, journal title, and author's address. Cited Ref. Search allows users to search for articles that cite a particular author or work.
