General Guides to Primary Sources
These are guides to sources from a variety of countries and periods.

Ulysse Chevalier, Répertoire des sources historiques du Moyen Age: topo-bibliographie [and bio-bibliographie].
New York: Kraus Reprint Corp., 1959. An important and thorough bibliographical work for medieval history which is useful for less familiar names, or for complete lists of references for more familiar ones. The biobibliographical section (pt. 1, vols. 1-2) is arranged alphabetically using French forms, and includes brief biographical data, as well as references to books, periodicals, and society transactions where information on the person can be found. The topobibliographical section (pt. 2, vols. 1-2)is arranged by place and by subject.
