Dictionaries in any field provide brief explanations of terms in that field. Some titles also provide brief biographies, assorted tables, and chronologies. To search for a legal title by subject use WestCat, change the search menu to subject and enter law dictionaries on the line. You can do the same thing in guided keyword search (use different lines for law and dictionaries) and add a topic such as homosexuality to find a legal dictionary on homosexuality.

Useful additions include Acronyms and Abbreviations, a Glossary, a Chronology, a Table of Cases, and a detailed "List of Entries" that, ipso facto, is a complete table of contents. A bibliography of major resources ends the volume.
